That Sarah is a daughter of Ephraim is open to some question.
She could as well be the daughter of Henry Briles, but the
internet lore supports her being Ephraim's daughter. Keith
states the Ephraim had a daughter Sarah, but the name Sarah is
so very common.

Sarah is present in the 1850 census of Harrison Co., Ind. She
is living with the Crawford Short family, which so happens to have
her future husband, David, in it. Sarah has a five year-old son
William H. This suggests she is a widow, but there are no
candidate marriages to confirm this. One internet source says
she was the first wife of John Mingles and had several children
by him including William H. John Mingles marries in Harrison Co.
in 1845 which suggests that, if he previously married Sarah, they
divorced.

David and Sarah moved to Mercer Co., Ill. She is found in the 1860
Mortality Schedule as having died in Nov. 1859 of typhoid fever.
But, miraculously, she is listed in the 1860 census of Mercer Co.!
David remarried in 1861.
