Note the birthdate conflict between Lucy and Madison.
In the census son John consistently gives his birthplace as Virginia, which
makes sense given the following. However son Washington claims Kentucky
as his birthplace.
20 Jul 1802 - William Broyles signs as security for the marriage bond of
James P. Ford and Elizabeth Broyles (his sister). Madison
Co., Va. [1]
26 Sep 1805 - William is named an heir to the estate of Moses Broyles in
Madison Co., Va. {Will Book 2:164} Same date he inherits
a negro slave. {Order Book 3} [3]2:23, 25.
16 Oct 1805 - Wm. Broyle and Elizabeth sell 45.5 acres to Manson Seamonds
(Simmons) Culpeper Co. (?) [3]2:20. This appears to mark their
move to Jefferson Co., Kentucky.
1807, 1808, 1810 - William Broyles is on the tax lists of Jefferson Co., Ky. [1]
15 Jul 1811 - William buys 95.5 acres on Harrod's Creek from Jenkin Phillips. [1]
1 Jan 1819 - He is described as an heir of John Wilhoit. [1]
1820 - No census record is found.
1821, 1823 - He is taxed for 90 and 91 acres. [1]
1823-1826 - William dies. Sons Madison and Ansel are named in guardian
records.
1826 - Elizabeth Briles is taxed for 90 acres on Harrod's Creek. [1]
1830 - Elizabeth is living with son John in the Jefferson Co. census.
1840 - She is living with son Washington.
1850 - She is living with son John.
