1819 - James Murphy is on the tax list of Whitley Co.,
from its inception, through 1850. His first land was situated on
Wolf Creek, but in the early 1820's he seems to have moved to the
Marsh Creek area. He was a lover of horses judging from the
average of 4 or 5 he owned. That was somewhat unusual.
It is noted that the estate of John Richmond was appraised in
Whitley Co. in 1830. It is possible he is the father of Sally
Richmond. John's wife was named Sally.
29 Mar 1851 - James Murphy makes his will. Whitley Co., KY. The
will mentions wife Sally, sons Abraham, John, James?, and
daughters Anny and Sally. Archibald Murphy and William Stephens
are named executors. Wit: Solomon Stephens and Alexandrew
Murphey. The will was proven 21 Apr 1851.
Since Archibald Murphy and William Stephens are probably son and
son-in-law. Indeed, William Stephens's wife is Sally. Solomon
Stephens married daughter Rachel. Alexander is probably also a
son.
