An obituary published in the Shelbyville Democrat on December
23, 1926, for Mrs. Mansfield Broyles, states that she had died
at the Shelby County Memorial Hospital, Thursday (December 15,
1926). Mrs. Broyles was born near Cowden on February 10, 1856.
She was a daughter of Samuel and Martha Jones, her maiden name
being Mary L. Jones. She was married to Mansfield Broyles in
1876. They were the parents of one son, Earl Broyles, who died
in 1900. Surviving besides the husband was a grandson, Headen
Broyles, living in Kentucky and a sister, Mrs. Beuna Moore of
Cowden. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church,
Rev. Bowman of Lakewood officiating. Burial was in Glenwood
Cemetery.
