Adaline May Broyles Cannon

Mrs. Addie May Cannon passed away Thursday, September 8, 1966,
at about 3:00 A.M. She had been a patient at the Lincoln County
Memorial Hospital, since suffering a broken hip from a fall, August
29, 1966. Her health had been failing for the past year. She had
reached the age of 91 years, 8 months and 4 days.

She was the daughter of Jonah and Arminta Howe Broyles, and was
born January 4, 1875, at Payson, Illinois. The family moved to
Missouri during her childhood and established their home on a farm
near Foley, where she grew to womanhood.

She was united in marriage to Charles Tully Cannon on March 13,
1892, and made their home on a farm in the Cornick community, some
3 miles west of Foley, where they continued to live throughout all
the active years of their lives. In 1951, they moved to Winfield to
live with their son, Howard. Eleven children were born to them:
Florence ( who became Mrs. Albert McClay), Nellie (Mrs. Ernest White
of Mexico, Missouri), Lillie Mrs. Albert Haertlein, Arthur, of
Winfield, Rjuby (Mrs. Jack Ford of St. Louis), Walter, Goldie, Howard,
Ruth (Mrs. Harold Keller) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Sterling, and Margaret
(Mrs. Shevron Booloodian of Winfield, Missouri. Her husband preceded
her in death in 1955.

She is survived by 4 daughters; Ruby, Ruth, Nellie, and Margaret;
2 sons; Arthur and Howard; 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren,
1 sister-in-law, Mrs Alma Broyles of Foley, 4 sons-in-law; Ernest White,
Jack Ford, Harold Keller, and Shevron Booloodian; 1 daughter-in-law,
Mrs. Hazel Cannon of Winfield; also other relatives and friends. She
was preceded in death by 3 daughters; Lillie, Florence, and Goldie,
who died at the age of 2 years, and 2 sons, Walter and Sterling, who
died in infancy; 2 sisters, Mrs. Grace Langford Electa Maud Broyles
who died at the age of 6 months and 3 days; 2 brothers David and
August Broyles.

She was converted and united with the Corinth Christian Church at
the age of 14, and continued a faithful member until her death.

Aunt Ad, as she was called by kinsmen and friends alike, lived her
long life in love and devotion to her family, with loyalty and concern
for her friends, and with faith and hope in her Lord and Savior; surely
she has fulfilled her mission, "Be thou faithful unto death and I will
give thee a crown of life. Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord
from hencefoth, yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their
labors, and their works do follow them."

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, September 10, 1966 at
2:00 P.M., from the Corinth Christian Church near Foley; the Rev.
Jim Daniels, pastor officiating, assisted by Rev. J. K. East. Casket-
bearers were, Roger and Ferman Cannon, Henry and David McClay, Jack
and Louis Langford. Hymns were sung by Rev. and Mrs. Daniels, with
Mrs. Daniels at the piano. O'Garlan Ricks was the funeral director.
