The census record regarding the children is quite consistent and
disagrees with the above birthdates. According to the census,
Washington was born in 1816 and Simeon in 1819. See William for
a discussion of his birthdate.
c. 1809 - His father moved the family to Monroe Co., Va.
1810...1837 - Absalom is taxed in Monroe Co., Va. He is exempted
from payment in the years after 1826. [51] The exemption may
have been for inability to pay.
Jul 1815 - Absalom was security for the marriage of his
brother Daniel. [3]6:5
11 Oct 1823 - He is named in his father's will and inherits $2.

4 Sep 1857 - "A. Broyles, husband" reports the death of his wife
Lucy. [53]
1860 - Absalom is living with his son William and family.
1870 - He is again living with his son William and family.
