1810 Broyles, Peter VA, Monroe --221 ----1

Peter established the West Virginia branch of the family when he
moved to Monroe Co. around the year 1801. Of course, it was still
Virginia at that time and would remain so until the Civil War.

1762 - Peter is mentioned in his father's will.

1776 - Listed on the communion roll of Hebron Church are
Peter Breil and wife Elisabetha. [113]20:386

1783 - Peter Broyle is listed as levy free property owner
on the list of Henry Hilt, Culpeper Co., Va. [158] The fact that
he was levy free at the approximate age of 45 suggests he had
some kind of disability or perhaps was a charity case.

1776...1798 - He is on the communion rolls of Hebron Church.
[3]1:123

27 Oct 1796 - Peter and son Zacharias Broyles buy 150 acres from
Jacob and Anne Rouse. Madison Co., Va. [3]7:56

2 Aug 1797 - Peter gives consent for his daughter Mary's
marriage. [3]7:56

1793...1800 - He is taxed for personal property. Madison Co.,
Va. [70]

    c. 1801 - Based on the fact that he was not on the tax list
of Madison Co. after 1800, and sold his land in 1804 (see below),
I believe Peter must have moved to Monroe Co., Va. in 1801 or so.
Most sources give the year of his move as 1809. [3]7:56, 3[1]:123

27 Nov 1804 - Peter Broyle and Elizabeth, and Zachariah Broyle
(son) and Elizabeth, sell 401 acres to Aaron Gaar. Culpeper Co.,
Va. [3]2:20

1810 - Peter is listed in the Monroe Co., Va. census.
[5]70:5 Many of his sons are living nearby.

1820 - Peter is not listed in the census, but the
household of Jacob Broyles has 3 men over 45 years of age, and
one woman over 45. This is very likely to be Jacob, Aaron, Peter
and Elizabeth. [5]133:808

11 Oct 1823 - Peter makes his will. There is no mention of his
wife. [93]

Jun 1824 - Peter's will was presented in Monroe Co., Va. [82]

Aug 1825 - A list of sales is presented in Monroe Co., Va. [82]
