Adam's assignment as a son of George is based on several points:
George and his brother Jacob were the only early Broyles in Alabama.
Adam was born in Alabama and must be a son of one or the other.
Jacob's family is well understood while George's has holes. [1]
Adam's age is right to be a son of George.
The census of 1850 has him in the same county as his brother A.J.
who is living with their sister Katherine Berryhill.
Son William W.'s death certificate gives his parents as
Adam Broyles and Margaret Bridges. [248]
After Adam's death Margaret remarried to James Oglesby. Her
children by Adam are given as Oglesby in the 1860 census but
in fact they were not adopted-- they kept the name Broyles as
adults.
The 1840 census entry almost certainly refers to Adam because
sons James and John give their birthplace as Mississippi and
Adam's is the only Broyles entry in the entire state that year.
